WWF, the global conservation organization that has been working in China for 27 years, is looking for a highly skilled professional to be a
WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Leader for the Conservation Operations in WWF China Programme Office to be based in Shanghai.
This position will report to the Director of Conservation.
WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Leader
Major functions:
1. Implementation of the WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme under the overall Yangtze Strategy and Action Plan (s) and consistent with the implementation of the overall WWF China Programme conservation Plan
2. Effective monitoring and evaluation of the WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme, ensuring delivery of conservation results and impacts.
3. Facilitate WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme collaboration with external agencies (Govt and INGO) as relevant to achievement of the Yangtze Strategy goals/Objectives and WWF Action Plans in Middle and Lower Yangtze
4. Strengthening of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Team and field offices capacity and skills for delivery of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Conservation Plan
5. Representing WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme within WWF CPO, WWF network and external partners including aid agencies, government partners and non-government and private sector
6. Spokesperson for WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme level activities.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead and effective coordinate the development of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme strategy and annual workplan and budget ensuring all WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme staff participate in planning and reviews of the Programme keep consistence with the Yangtze programme and CPO's Conservation Plan.
2. Lead the effective implementation of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme strategy and annual workplans.
3. Lead on the reporting and raising issues to the Steering Group Meetings of the WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme as the representative of the programme.
4. Lead the preparation of the meeting materials and attend the WWF and HSBC Partnership annual meeting on behalf of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme of China.
5. Ensures effective Implementation of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Communication plans including business engagement communication as part of the whole Yangtze Programme.
6. Provide support, guidance and technical supervision to WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme team including convening and chairing WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme team meetings or delegates these as appropriate.
7. Lead and co-ordinate timely production of technical reports of appropriate format, quality, and content, and within the specified time frame, to meet donor requirements, including Project Database updates and WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Annual Report
8. Provide effective technical supports and effectively communication with the WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Account Manager to maintain a good partnership relationship between WWF and HSBC in China.
9. Provide overall coordination, support for multi-programme and cross-cutting initiatives in WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme and rest of Yangtze Programme of WWF CPO.
10. Act as spokesperson for the WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme on conservation issues or delegate this task to the appropriate person.
11. Establishes and sustains a network of contacts, and actively seek to build strategic alliances with other NGOs, donors and other potential partners to promote WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme's objectives.
12. Develop and promotes strategies and partnerships for raising WWF's profile and influence in Chinese policymaking related with Yangtze Basin.
13. Maintains good relationships with WWF UK and external donors, in order to achieve WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme goals, and actively encourage their continued interest in supporting WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme of WWF China.
14. Assistant to the development of a WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme fundraising strategy and proposals.
15. Signs off all relevant WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Position Papers and statements as required.
16. Ensure the development of protocols for effective monitoring and evaluation of projects in Middle and Lower Yangtze basin, including ongoing adaptive management, learning, and sharing of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme
17. Conduct joint annual performance appraisal and training needs assessment of WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme field programme leaders of Shanghai, Wuhan and Changsha with the CDO and assistance to the WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme Beijing team member's appraisals.
18. Develop annual training/capacity-building plan for WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme staff based on the priorities identified in the performance appraisal process/needs assessment and with support from the HR Manager.
19. Promote opportunities for WWF/HSBC Partnership Programme staff to benefit from capacity building including local and international training opportunities, staff exchanges, exchange visits and scholarships
Qualifications Required
1. Minimum of 8 years' experience in responsible positions relevant to this post
2. A university degree in a relevant discipline, e.g. conservation, project management or in a relevant field is preferred.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English.
4. High level of competence in project management, communications, marketing /corporate and public relations communications. Excellent ability to work cross-culturally, proposal writing, policy analysis and information management
5. Good organisational skills and proven abilities in administration and management
6. Excellent inter-personal skills, and team building skills including ability to transfer skills, supervise and network Ability to think strategically, self-motivated and innovative and meet deadlines
7. Good current understanding of nature conservation issues and strategies; as well as well understanding of WWF's work in China and globally for HSBC project.
